Coca-Cola Refreshing Films - Montclair State University

Pitch

Subject Line: Montclair State University Students Charlotte Bigotto and John Schell selected as finalists in Coca-Cola ad competition.

In the _'s efforts to highlight local NJ filmmakers' breaking into the industry, we would like to share that Montclair State University students are one of four finalist teams in the nation that have written, directed, and produced a short film in the Coca-Cola Refreshing Films Program.

“Super Connections” is a film directed by Charlotte Bigotto and produced by John Schell (Film and Television, Class of ‘24) about passionate moviegoers who dress up to watch their favorite films, the opposing fan bases come face to face, but in the end, come together to share the magical experience of going to the movies. The film features stunning costume and makeup design that demonstrates the moviegoers’ connection with the characters on the big screen.

The initial script was submitted to the Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program as part of a class activity. Bigotto and Schell’s brilliant script would then move onto the semi-finalist stage and after refining the script further, they were selected as one of four finalist teams. Bigotto and Schell’s script was among 1006 scripts submitted in the 2024 Coca-Cola Refreshing Films Program.

Bigotto and Schell were ecstatic to discover they had been selected as finalists; they are immensely proud of becoming the first ever finalists at Montclair State University in the university’s first year participating in the program. In addition, this achievement brought a lot of joy as Bigotto has always been fascinated by filmmaking going back as early as when she was 8 years old creating movies to share with her family. Schell’s goal after graduating from Montclair is to work in the television industry, Schell feels confidence that this opportunity demonstrates he has what it takes to work in the industry.

While the task of leading a production with a budget of $20,000 seemed challenging at first, Bigotto and Schell were quick to assemble their cast and crew consisting of other Montclair State University students/alumni. They credit Coca-Cola Refreshing Films and its partners as well as Montclair State University faculty for providing crucial support to bring “Super Connections” to life! Montclair State University is recognized for its various programs in communications and its “state of the art” facilities that prepares the next generation of filmmakers.

The Montclair duo hope that “Super Connections” will take home both the Red Ribbon Panel Grand Prize and Cinemark Fan Favorite Award.

I can coordinate interview opportunities with the filmmakers to go along with the story, look forward to hearing from you.

Case Study Assignment - Sony & CCS

Assignment for CMST-520, Master's in Public and Organizational Relations program at Montclair State University.

CCS recently opened its new headquarters located in New York City, NY, designed with esports and gamers in mind. Although CCS previously hosted its tournaments in venues such as Kings Theatre which has a seating capacity of 3000+ guests, the venue was not optimal for hosting esport tournaments in person or virtually. The goal with the design and construction of CCS’ newest headquarters was to meet the ever-growing demands for gaming such as network infrastructure, guaranteeing minimal lag, and providing essential resources to esport athletes such as training rooms.

In addition to the competitor and visitor experience at the new headquarters, CCS sought to improve the viewing experience of its gaming tournaments through streaming as well. Despite the exciting final moments in previous tournaments where winners were not decided until the very end, CCS tournament director George R noticed that “viewers could not experience the emotions and intense closing moments due to a fixed camera shot that kept them away from the action.” CCS conducted a survey at the end of the year, while viewers praised the wide coverage of different game genres, they expressed disappointment on limited camera angles and connection reliability.

CCS partnered with Sony, a leader in imaging and broadcast equipment when upgrading its streaming equipment. Sony's PTZ cameras are an industry standard, recognized by TechRadar for achieving stunning image quality with vibrant and accurate colors as well as great low-light performance. CCS purchased six Sony FR7 PTZ cameras which are the first PTZ cameras to offer an interchangeable lens mount which allows users to mount any of the 200+ available E Mount lenses to get the desired shot.

CCS easily mounted the cameras in the venue due to the FR7’s compact design. Its remote operation was ideal since their preferred camera movements would be impossible to achieve with a traditional broadcast camera and operator. Sony’s PTZ cameras were specifically equipped with powerful zoom lenses that can switch from wide shots that show the atmosphere of the venue to close-up shots of the gamers’ reactions. Sony’s FR7 uses a EXMOR R full-frame sensor to capture over 15 stops of dynamic range, creating an immersive experience for all viewers.

CCS was the first organization to use the highly anticipated FR7 at its newest headquarters in New York City. Sony technical specialist Charles L. highlights Sony’s FR7 as the brand’s “most versatile PTZ that can adapt to CCS’ specific needs,” the camera received numerous awards CES 2022. The decision to equip CCS’ newest headquarters with Sony PTZ cameras ensures that CCS will be ready when Twitch and other streaming platforms roll out higher resolution streams such as 4K. CCS employees are pleased to report that the Sony PTZ cameras offer reliable remote camera operation as well as maintenance.

CCS also reported a 12% increase in viewership and subscribers on Twitch compared to the same time in the previous year.

COLD WEATHER COMPANY ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE “RUN AWAY”—OUT FEBRUARY 17, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today, New Jersey-based alternative folk band Cold Weather Company announced their new single

Run Away. With a worldwide, digital release set for February 17, 2023, Run Away marks the trio’s first release since October 2021’s Coalescence LP.

Private Stream for “Run Away

Cold Weather Company’s new single “shines a light on the doubt one may face in pursuit of a goal, while recognizing the excitement and encouragement that can come from taking the journey one day at a time.” The band shares that “Run Away is one of just a few songs in our catalog where the lead vocals are traded throughout. And while a classic Cold Weather Company song at its core—featuring two guitars and a piano—drums, bass, and a synth-led crescendo allowed us to explore more of our sonic terrain.”

The band has been steadily building their audience and developing their artistic style for the past nine years, Cold Weather Company’s music showcases a diverse sound that is rich with harmonies and instrumental builds. Since their start, the band has earned over 11 million digital streams and supported acts within the US and UK such as The Bouchard Bros (of Blue Öyster Cult), Tall Heights, Firewoodisland, Jamestown Revival, and Juke Ross.

With four full-length albums and a number of singles in Cold Weather Company’s catalog, Run Away paves the way for new music from the band. With an undisclosed plan for their fifth LP, the trio has begun to tease new material during their live performances. US listeners can find out where to catch the band at coldweathercompany.com/tour, worldwide listeners can view solo and trio performances live on TikTok.
